**Annie Yu, news anchor at WUSA-TV in D.C.,** [**announced**](https://capitolcommunicator.com/wusa-morning-anchor-annie-yu-on-medical-leave-following-surgery/) **in early February 2023** that she was taking time off to deal with a health issue. On April 30, she [posted](https://www.facebook.com/AnnieYuTV/) the following on Facebook: “3 months ago, I went through the most difficult time in my life. It involved major surgery following not so great news about my health. Thankfully, the worst is behind me and I got the care and treatment I needed. I feel extremely grateful for how things worked out. But during that time, especially after my surgery, I felt a burst of emotions and extreme physical fatigue. It was hard for me to see the “light,” and in that period of time, I didn’t see myself getting back to working out anytime soon (which I need for mental clarity)…

“I say all that to say… I HAVE gone back and it’s been a slow progression but today’s workout made me feel like my old self again- and whole again!! I just want to say thank you again to everyone who continues to show love and support. Take good care of yourselves and even though it’s hard to do sometimes… give yourself grace and allow yourself to feel and heal.”

Yu provided no indication when she would return to WUSA-TV.
