**Jerry McCann, a Baltimore-based advertising executive who built campaigns for household names** ranging from Sears to Perdue Farms, died May 22 at Broadmead in Cockeysville, Maryland. He was 77.

McCann’s advertising career began in Chicago, where he worked at an advertising agency serving major clients including Sears, Roebuck, and Co. and Campbell Soup.

In 1985, McCann joined Hart Schaffner Marx, the American menswear manufacturer, as vice president of marketing communications. He spent eight years there before moving to the Salisbury, Md.-based Perdue Farms in 1993 as director of advertising, where he helped shape marketing strategies for one of the nation’s largest poultry producers.

Baltimore’s Richardson, Myers & Donofrio (later renamed Carton Donofrio Partners) hired him as vice president and account director in 1997 serving accounts including the American Institute of Architects. He continued in this role until 2011.

Following his agency work, McCann transitioned into consulting and education. He served as a senior associate with Brand Planning, LLC, and shared his industry expertise as an adjunct professor in the College of Business and Economics at Towson University, where he taught marketing and advertising courses.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, McCann was known for his passion for sailing, which he discovered at Baltimore’s Downtown Sailing Center in the late 1990s. He owned a Pearson Commander 26 sailboat, which he affectionately named “Nati Boht,” and was active in local racing groups. McCann is survived by his wife of 55 years, **Julie**, and daughters **Katie** and **Amy**.
