**William Jennings “Bill” Holleran**, 73, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 2nd in Washington, D.C. He was born on February 17, 1950 in Washington, D.C. to William Munsell Holleran and Marie Frances Herden. He graduated from Northwood High School in Silver Spring and earned a Bachelor’s degree in English (cum laude) from Union College in Schenectady, NY and a Master’s degree in Communication (with distinction) from American University. He married the love of his life, Maryann, on October 14, 1972.

Bill was a master wordsmith and effective communicator. This expertise contributed to many successful positions in public relations serving a wide variety of industries. He was the owner of Holleran Communications LLC for more than 25 years and an adjunct professor of communication studies and professional writing at University of Maryland Global Campus. In his spare time, Bill served as a dedicated lector for many years at St. Rose of Lima Parish in Gaithersburg, MD. **Joyce Bosc**, president and CEO of [**Boscobel Marketing Communications**](https://www.boscobel.com/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com), shared the following tribute: Bill was a master wordsmith and excellent communicator in public relations for decades. He served several different industries with a high standard of quality service and client support including Government, Real Estate, Associations and Government Contractors.

I had the honor of working with Bill for 26 years. He mentored and coached so many of us at Boscobel, and we learned a lot from Bill.

The thing I remember most is, no matter what position Bill was in, he always took the time to get to know each of his colleagues. He was a warm and joyful person who took others under his wing without being asked, especially those just starting out in their career.

Bill also brought his experience and expertise to the classroom, as an adjunct professor of communication studies and professional writing at University of Maryland Global Campus.

Bill touched so many lives dearly, including mine. I’ll never forget his bright energy that would light up every room he entered. The world lost an incredible person and will be missed terribly.

Rest in peace, Bill.
