**YouTube and Facebook are the most widely used online platforms,** according to a study by Pew Research, reports [MediaPost](https://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/411052/youtube-facebook-are-most-popular-social-sites.html?utm%5Fsource=newsletter&utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fcontent=readmore&utm%5Fcampaign=140758&hashid=rxoEoksaT%5FqK7DdO4ercPw). Among all social sites, continues Media Post, Instagram comes closest to them.

Here are the numbers of the most widely used online platforms:

- YouTube —84%
- Facebook — 71%
- Instagram — 50%
- TikTok — 37%
- WhatsApp — 32%
- Reddit — 26%
- Snapchat — 25%
- X (Twitter) — 21%
- Threads — 6%
- Bluesky — 4%
- Truth Social — 3%

Several of these numbers represent changes, continues the report. For instance, TikTok is up from 21% in 2021, and Instagram from 40% that year. Meanwhile, WhatsApp has risen from 23% in 2021 and Reddit from 18%.

In addition, gender plays a role — for instance, 55% of women use Instagram, compared to 44% of men. And usage varies by race and ethnicity — 45% of white adults use Instagram, versus 62% of Hispanics, 58% of Asians and 54% of Black consumers.

As for education, 40% of people with a college degree at least use Reddit, compared to 28% of those with some college and 15% with a high school diploma or less.
