**Cathy Hughes now has a star on the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame**. Hughes, who founded Urban One, a Silver Spring, Maryland-based media conglomerate and serves as its chairperson, was inducted into BMEWOF during its Juneteenth celebration in Atlanta. That makes her an official member of the Crown Jewel of Excellence Black Music Month Class of 2022, reports Inside Radio.

Hughes is one of four foundational inductees in this year’s class which includes seminal jazz composer and bandleader Duke Ellington, legendary Philly Sound producers Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff, and Robert Smith Founder, Chairman, and CEO of private equity firm Vista Equity Partners.

Previous Foundational inductees include Cicely Tyson, Quincy D. Jones, Berry Gordy, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, James Brown, and Otis Redding. The Crown Jewel of Excellence emblems for the inductees of the BMEWOF are permanently installed on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, in front of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

(Hughes is also the first Black woman inducted into the NAB Hall of Fame for radio.)
