[**Jeffrey R. Caporizzo,**](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeffcaporizzo/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com) **Senior Partner, Executive Creative Director at** [**ICF Next,**](https://www.icf.com/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com) **died on Sept. 17\. He was 55.**

An [online tribute](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7374443814096224256/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com) to Caporizzo, known as “Cap”, follows:

A father, son, brother, partner and friend, an artist, executive, creative director, mentor and brand storyteller, Jeff worked at several of the world’s largest marketing and creative agencies in the Washington metropolitan area, most recently at ICF Next.

Born in Greenwich, Conn., Jeff was raised in Derry, N.H., and Scituate, R.I. He graduated Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, R.I., in 1988, and Providence College, in Providence, R.I., in 1992, with a bachelor of arts degree in studio art, with a drawing concentration.

He was lucky enough to come of age among a tight-knit group of men who first befriended each other in high school and became lifelong brothers. Known as “The Tank,” they have kept in constant communication on every imaginable topic, through all of life’s ups and downs. His humor and natural charisma, his skill at bringing people together, and his endless care and love for people close to him were instrumental in this group coming together and staying together, whether gathering annually for Tank Reunion with cigars around a campfire, or playing marathon sessions of Dungeons & Dragons and Magic the Gathering.

A third-generation Italian-American, Jeff took great pride in being his parents’ son and a member of a large Connecticut-based Italian family. He especially cherished the annual family picnics over Labor Day weekends, saying “Our traditions, food, interactions and good times, built on the amazing Italian immigrant story, fueled my strength, joy and achievement throughout my life.”

Jeff was a lifelong artist: “If I don’t create each day, I feel like a fraud.” He continuously honed his skills as a painter, over the years working on increasingly larger canvases, from post-it notes to wall-size paintings. “Art is not a thing; it is a way,” is an adage he lived by.

Across a lifetime of creative endeavors, Jeff considered raising his son, Joseph, to be his best work [hashtag#LifeofDad](https://www.linkedin.com/search/results/all/?keywords=%23lifeofdad&origin=HASH%5FTAG%5FFROM%5FFEED&ref=capitolcommunicator.com). When Joe was young, he developed the “3Rules” they would invoke to each other daily:

Like the sun in the sky, you are the most important thing in the world to me.
Wherever you are is where I want to be.
If I ever leave you, I’ll always come back.

He is truly sorry to leave his adventure with Joe so early, as they still had so much to do together: “I love you son, I’m proud of you, 3 rules forever.”

In addition to his son, Joseph Hidalgo Caporizzo of Silver Spring, Md.; Jeff is survived by his parents, Robert and Elaine Caporizzo of Palmyra, Va; his sister, Maria Caporizzo and her partner, Deborah Perry, of East Providence, R.I.; and his girlfriend, Jenny Shaffer, and her children, Jacelyn and Jake Shaffer, of Manassas, Va.

Information on services will be forthcoming.
