**John Sherman, a Peabody Award-winning journalist and founder/CEO of Storyfarm in Baltimore**, has joined the San Francisco-based [Center for AI Safety](https://safe.ai/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com) as Director of Public Engagement, in addition to his role at Storyfarm.

According to a release from CAIS, Sherman will “lead a bold new initiative to bring AI risk out of the lab and into public consciousness — turning it into a kitchen-table conversation for people across the country.”

“For too long this conversation has been hidden from the public,” Sherman said in the release. “It’s time to get loud. People deserve to know what’s coming — and that they can have a role to play in shaping it.”

In late 2023, Sherman launched For Humanity: An AI Risk Podcast after reading about AI existential risk and becoming alarmed. In just 18 months, the show grew to over 150,000 YouTube subscribers, becoming one of the largest public platforms addressing existential risk from advanced AI.

Now, with support from CAIS, Sherman will expand his efforts by launching a network of new AI risk focused podcasts and sub-brands that tap into humor, parental instinct, and other powerful avenues to connect with audiences far beyond the academic and policy worlds.

Matt Dornic

**Under Armour has hired former CNN spokesperson and SVP of communications Matt Dornic** to lead communications as the Baltimore-based company makes changes to its executive team. He replaces **Jen Smith**, who has moved to head Under Armour’s human resources department.

Dornic announced the news on LinkedIn: “I couldn’t be more excited to share the news that I’m joining Under Armour as Chief Communications Officer. It’s a role with a deep sense of purpose at an organization that caters to one of my personal passions – a list led by fitness, sports, dogs and news.

“Under Armour and its leadership have the qualities that matter most to me – vision, heart, grit, determination and resilience. UA is more than just a logo. It’s a brand that turns ambition into action. It empowers athletes, encourages people to move, and it fuels a global spirit of competition and community. I’m so proud to be a part of the Under Armour team and I’m looking forward to new challenges and lots of fun ahead.
