Sherrie Johnson, known locally for her roles at WTTG Fox 5 in D.C. and at Baltimore’s WMAR-TV, has launched an online course for journalists looking to make the leap into PR and communications. The four-week course, “Life After News,” begins at 7 p.m. on June 6.

“In the ever-changing world of journalism, more people are deciding to leave the industry and select a new career,” Johnson told Capitol Communicator. “It can be scary to consider life after journalism and embark on something new.

“I want to help other journalists make the transition to life after the news,” she said.

Following 13 years as a television reporter/anchor, Johnson made the switch to communications, working for the Harford County Government as a public information officer for the county executive. Next, she went to Prince George’s County Public Schools as a public information officer. She most recently worked in the Prince William County government before forming her own business, Sherrie Johnson Communications LLC. She also serves as a speaker and executive coach.

Capitol Communicator explored Johnson’s TV news career in May, 2021 as part of its media profile series.
