# Agency Update: Michael Fleischer Named President and GM of D.C.-Based Direct Impact

**Michael Fleischer has been named president and general manager** of D.C.-based Direct Impact after serving as interim leader since April. He will continue to oversee DI’s client accounts and business development.

**Mike Fernandez,** U.S. CEO of Burson-Marsteller, parent company of Direct Impact, said, “We are thrilled to name Michael as the leader of Direct Impact. He understands the current political environment, knows the team that is in place and has experience in driving digital and community-based grassroots advocacy in support of clients in many sectors – from energy to environment, technology, transportation and financial services.”

Fleischer has been with DI since the beginning of 2012, joining the firm with more than 20 years of experience in government and public affairs. He specializes in legislative and regulatory communications, having expertise designing and implementing advocacy campaigns at the federal and state level.
