**Elon Musk has called on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to look into Twitter’s user numbers, reports** [**CNBC**](https://www.cnbc.com/2022/05/17/elon-musk-calls-on-sec-to-evaluate-twitter-user-numbers.html?ref=capitolcommunicator.com)**.**

[Musk](https://www.cnbc.com/elon-musk/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com) wrote in an informal Twitter poll on Tuesday, “Twitter claims that >95% of daily active users are real, unique humans. Does anyone have that experience?” He then said, in response to a follower, who suggested the SEC begin an investigation, “Hello [@SECGov](https://twitter.com/SECGov?ref=capitolcommunicator.com), anyone home?”

“The SEC has been aware of Twitter’s murky metrics for years,” states [CNBC](https://www.cnbc.com/2022/05/17/elon-musk-calls-on-sec-to-evaluate-twitter-user-numbers.html?ref=capitolcommunicator.com).

Musk agreed to buy Twitter for $44 billion, but has since said the deal is on pause as he looks into bots, spam and fakes.

**Meanwhile, Twitter’s executive ranks continue to thin out** after three senior managers quit “as the company has been thrown into turmoil by [Elon Musk’s looming $44 billion takeover](https://nypost.com/2022/05/16/elon-musk-posts-poop-emoji-after-twitter-ceo-touts-handling-of-bots/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com),” reports the [New York Post](https://nypost.com/2022/05/17/twitter-loses-3-more-top-execs-as-elon-musk-takeover-looms/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com).

**Ilya Brown**, a vice president of product management; **Katrina Lane**, a vice president of Twitter service, and **Max Schmeiser**, the head of data science, all handed in their resignations, [according to Bloomberg News](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-05-17/twitter-loses-three-more-senior-employees-ahead-of-musk-takeover?ref=capitolcommunicator.com).

“We are thankful for all of their hard work and leadership,” a Twitter spokesperson told Bloomberg.

“We continue to be focused on providing the very best experience to the people on Twitter.”

The departures, continues the NY Post, “come less than a week after Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal [ousted two top executives](https://nypost.com/2022/05/12/two-twitter-execs-ousted-as-elon-musk-takeover-looms/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com) — **Kayvon Beykpour**, the company’s general manager, and **Bruce Falck**, Twitter’s head of revenue.
