**Baltimore magazine has appointed Debbie Darmofal chief operating officer**, where she will oversee strategy across its print, digital, events, and custom publishing operations.

The transition coincides with President **Michael Teitelbaum**’s decision to spend more time with his six grandchildren, half of whom live in Austin and the other half in Miami. Professionally, he will be devoting his attention to building the Executive Advisory Council, a peer advisory organization he founded in early 2025 to support business leaders across the region.

“Leading Baltimore magazine has been an incredible honor,” said Teitelbaum, who has served as president since 2017\. “The magazine is a Baltimore institution, and the people behind it matter deeply to me. I have tremendous confidence in Debbie, the team, and the direction of the company.”

“Debbie brings deep institutional knowledge, operational expertise, and a steady, thoughtful leadership style,” said **Steve Geppi**, publisher and CEO. “She understands this organization inside and out, and I have complete confidence in her ability to lead the company forward.”

Geppi, who has owned Baltimore magazine for more than three decades, will take on a more active role as Publisher and CEO, partnering closely with Darmofal and the leadership team.

**Jacob Baumgart, a former Patch field editor who has spent more than five years covering Maryland**, has been named editor of the Capital Gazette in Annapolis.

Baumgart joined Patch in June 2020, reporting across Anne Arundel, Baltimore, and Prince George’s counties with a focus on feature storytelling and business news. His coverage has included veterans’ mental health, human interest stories, and major regional events such as the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse.

A Maryland native, Baumgart has earned nine first-place awards and three second-place honors from the Maryland-Delaware-DC Press Association for excellence in journalism.

A 2020 graduate of the University of Delaware, he previously interned at FOX Sports, The News Journal, and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
