**For the capacity crowd at Capitol Communicator’s PR Summit DC, Friday**, June 10, it was a full day devoted to discussing the fundamental changes that will impact communicators in coming months and years.

One of the event’s highlights was an interactive luncheon presentation by **Chris Graves**, chairman of Ogilvy Public Relations, who discussed how specific words – and action by peers – can drive desired action and how a herd mentality alters how a person can respond to various situations.

Graves, shown above, was one of dozens of experts discussing and detailing the challenging issues communicators face – from [fundamental changes in the traditional media,](https://capitolcommunicator.com/point-of-clarification-on-the-press-release-and-other-news/) to the upheaval caused by social media, to [convergence in communications](https://capitolcommunicator.com/time-to-change-your-business-model/), to [native advertising](https://capitolcommunicator.com/navigating-native-insights-from-pam-jenkins-president-of-powell-tate/), to lessons that can be learned from the pending presidential election.

Beyond the specifics of the session, the over-arching lesson is that on-going professional education is one way to stay abreast of the fundamental changes facing communicators.

Toward that end, Capitol Communicator is announcing Mid-Atlantic Marketing Summit Baltimore, Thursday, Sept. 29, at Pier V Hotel.

Now in its fifth year, this Fall annual summit has become the “must-attend” marketing event for the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. The summit brings together 300+ CMOs, senior marketers, agency professionals and technology executives from throughout the Mid-Atlantic. The full-day event features dozens of case studies, keynotes, presentations and networking breaks on the most important issues facing marketers in 2016-2017.
