[**PRSA National Capital Chapter (PRSA NCC)**](https://prsancc.org/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com) **announced that Sheila Brooks, Ph.D., and Shonali Burke** have been selected as the 2025 inductees into the National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame. The induction, states PRSA NCC, “recognizes their extraordinary leadership, innovation and lifelong dedication to excellence — and to advancing the public relations and communications profession.

“Dr. Sheila Brooks and Shonali Burke exemplify the highest standards of leadership, innovation and service in our profession,” said **Crystal Borde**, 2025 PRSA NCC President. “For nearly five decades, Dr. Sheila Brooks has used communications to expand opportunity, elevate underrepresented voices, and mentor hundreds of emerging practitioners. Since the start of her career, Shonali Burke has advanced and reshaped modern public relations through her pioneering integration with social media, ethical, data-driven approach, and her generous commitment to educating, developing and supporting communicators worldwide. Together, their dedication and impact have elevated not only the National Capital communications community, but the global field of public relations.”

According to PRSA NCC: “[Dr. Brooks](https://www.linkedin.com/in/sheila-brooks-phd/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com) is the Founder, President and CEO of SRB Communications, one of Washington, D.C.’s most respected woman- and minority-owned full-service communications agencies. Her agency leadership has expanded economic and storytelling opportunities for communities often left out of mainstream communications — and she has used her platform to ensure they are seen, heard and represented.

“[Shonali Burke](https://www.linkedin.com/in/shonaliburke/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com) is a pioneering leader and change agent in digital and social public relations, widely recognized as one of the architects of modern Social PR. She founded the Social PR Virtuoso® online course — an industry-leading training program — dedicated to ethical, data-driven and results-oriented communications centering collaborative and community-fueled social storytelling for brand and mission impact. Currently, she is Managing Director at Malvern, Pa.-based People’s Light, a cultural and civic center with theatre at its core. Burke is the first Indian American Managing Director of a U.S.-based nonprofit LORT theatre, and an alum of India’s prestigious National School of Drama (NSD).”

The duo will be inducted at the PRSA National Capital Hall of Fame and Holiday Party Reception on December 18 from 6-9 p.m. ET at the Hilton Arlington Rosslyn The Key.

PRSA NCC started the National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame in 1999 by inducting 50 leaders with significant accomplishments in the public relations field as part of the chapter’s 50th anniversary celebration. The Hall of Fame honorees combined hold more than a thousand awards, distinctions, honorary degrees, advisory positions, charity board seats, and who’s who citations among them.
