**In June, the Wikipedia Chaos Index held steady at 87, keeping it at the same High range it was in May.** The platform remains highly volatile, so our advice remains unchanged: this isn’t the time to publish new drafts, update controversial content, or engage in debates with editors.

While the Index remained the same, the activity on Wikipedia shifted a bit; in the past month, there’s been a slight decrease in editing speed, alongside a modest increase in new pages submitted through Articles for Creation. This means that while Wikipedia itself is updating and changing a bit slower than usual, the influx of new page candidates (and subsequent rejections) continues to increase.

AfC decline rates remain incredibly high, continuing the expected trend of Wikipedia editors holding incredibly high, rigid standards for new pages, especially around extremely sensitive topics like artificial intelligence.

Could a strike be coming to Wikipedia? After the Wikimedia Foundation’s dismissal of **Brooke Vibber**, lead developer of MediaWiki (and the organization’s first full-time employee), there were definitely tensions in the editorial community – which only escalated a week later when the Foundation disbanded the Community Tech team, laying off five engineers and a manager in the process.

Though the reasons for this are still unclear, the response from the volunteer community has been swift, with editors threatening to do everything from holding an editorial strike or resigning from admin positions, to even more drastic actions like turning off the anti-vandalism filters built by the community, which would have an immediate impact on the quality and verifiability of all Wikipedia pages.

How the tension between the foundation and the volunteer community resolves remains to be seen – if any of these threats become action, well-defended Wikipedia pages are going to be in an advantageous place to head off any potential vandalism surge.

*NOTE: The Chaos Index is our proprietary metric for measuring turbulence throughout Wikipedia and tracking the community’s current sentiment towards corporate-related pages. The index measures community actions such as editing frequency, content deletion, message board posts, and many other activities that contribute to unstable corporate page environments.*
