**Capitol Communicator is running “Up Close and Personal” profiles** of communicators in the mid-Atlantic. In this profile we feature Angela Edwards. Photography for the series is by award-winning [**Cade Martin**](https://cademartin.com/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com), wardrobe styling by Pascale Lemaire and Sybil Street for THE Artist Agency; and hair and makeup by Patti D Nelson, Janice Kinigopoulos and Lori Pressman for THE Artist Agency.

**Angela, please provide us a short bio.**

I’m a Senior Producer at ICF Next, which is based in Fairfax, Virginia. Originally from New Jersey, I graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S in Journalism. My first job in advertising was at ADWORKS and after a few years in Account Service and Research, I intentionally got into Production and started as an Associate Producer. I started Twin Productions in 1998 and have produced all or some part of spots, documentaries, film, TV, live events and print. In April 2017, a former client asked if I would be interested in joining ICF Next’s staff, it was and continues to be a great opportunity to work with a Creative team on national public service campaigns like Opioid Misuse, Sepsis, Zika, Smoking Cessation; and energy clients like BGE, PECO and DTE.

**Are you involved in any other organizations?**

I’m a long time WIFV member, it is such a valuable resource in this market. I volunteer with Knine Rescue, and Comfort Cases and once a year, I try Ben’s Run 5K.

**What are you are most proud of?**

My family: My husband Paul, my daughter Ava, my son Rhys and my dog April.

**Who are your personal role models?**

At different times in my life, I’ve had different role models. But I would not be a Producer without three important women. Merrick Murdock, Linda Schloss and Judy Wittenberg. Merrick recognized that I wanted to be a producer and recommended me for an Associate Producer job at the right time to Linda Schloss who along with Mark Greenspun took a chance on me. My first big, go to LA shoot was with Judy Wittenberg who showed me how to get the job done with kindness and joy and creativity. I also learned more than I could ever articulate working with Andy Ellis, Kim Gallagher, Elise Scott and Nancy Swenton.

**Did these role models offer professional advice that helped you in your career?**

I pay attention to everyone to see what works and what doesn’t. The best lessons I have learned came from making mistakes and adjusting from there.

**What professional advice do you have for others?**

Respect the Creative and the Client, work hard, listen more than you speak and send thank you notes.

**What’s on your Spotify and Pandora playlists?**

Nothing. I like podcasts and Audible as for music…Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry, REM, the Smiths, Alicia Keyes, Bobby Darrin, Adele, Bruno Mars, Nirvana, Dante Palminteri and, of course, Bruce Springsteen.

**What’s your favorite restaurant?**

Do I have to pick one? In truth I love any meal where all I have to do is order and eat it, bonus points if good guacamole is included.

**Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?**

I love second-hand book stores and the beach and I would take my dog with me everywhere if I could.
