# YouTube passes a billion monthly podcast viewers

**YouTube says it has reached a significant podcast milestone**, passing a billion monthly active viewers of podcasts on the platform. The company says that the milestone underscores how YouTube plays “an essential role” in podcasting for creators and audiences, and how its investments to improve the podcast experience on YouTube are paying off, reports Inside Radio.

“Podcasts with video are more than just a trend, they meet audiences where they are: on YouTube,” **Tim Katz**, VP of Partnerships, Podcasts, says [in a blog post](https://blog.youtube/news-and-events/1-billion-monthly-podcast-users/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com). “We’ve specifically developed our podcast product experience to make it easier for fans to find podcasts they love, discover new ones, and watch (or listen!) wherever they want. We’ve also added more and more podcasters into our revenue sharing program, the YouTube Partner Program.”

YouTube earlier said that viewers watched [over 400 million hours of podcasts](https://blog.youtube/news-and-events/2024-recap-of-youtube-on-tv/?ref=capitolcommunicator.com) monthly on living room devices last year. The latest update offers a wider view of how much content users are accessing on the YouTube app and website.
