AAF Baltimore Welcomes Marketers to Wonderland for 46th ADDYs; Celebrates 100 Years of Women in Advertising

by | Feb 17, 2020

Tumble down the rabbit hole with Baltimore’s community of marketers, advertisers and creatives. The American Advertising Federation of Baltimore (AAFB) has announced that tickets are now on sale for the 46th Annual American Advertising Awards Show (the ADDYs), which will take place Thursday, March 5, at Port Discovery Children’s Museum.

This year’s event, “Wonderland,” is being produced by Novak Birch and will serve as a kickoff of the Club’s 100th anniversary and a year-long celebration honoring the women who founded the AAFB as the Women’s Ad Club of Baltimore in 1920.

“This is a very special year as we celebrate our 100th anniversary and we are looking forward to kicking it off in a big way,” said Matt McDermott, AAFB president and AVP of creative strategy at idfive. “Join us for a reunion of creative minds and celebration of the women who, like Alice, subverted expectations and carved a pathway through the madness that is our industry.”

Top honors to be announced at the ADDY awards include Best in Show and Special Judges’ Awards, in addition to prestigious individual achievement awards. A new award, the Katherine Mahool Iconoclast Award, will also be announced. “This new award celebrates the spirit of our club’s first president, who was a true trailblazer in advertising,” added McDermott. “With this award, we will be honoring women in advertising, business, design, tech, and marketing who have totally flipped the script and done things on their own terms.”

More than 200 entries were submitted this year for Gold and Silver ADDY awards, which will be presented to local agencies, production houses and in-house marketing teams. Sponsorship opportunities, including the title sponsorship, are still available.

The American Advertising Awards competition is the industry’s largest and most representative competition — attracting more than 40,000 entries every year in local competitions. Gold winners at the local level move on to the regional competition, competing with agencies from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Virginia and Washington, D.C. A win at the district level earns a spot in the National American Advertising Awards Competition. National winners will be announced at the AAF’s national conference, Admerica, taking place June 6-9, 2020, Palm Springs, California.
