AAF DC has tapped creative agency January Third to develop the creative campaign for the 2022 DC American Advertising Awards show.
DC agencies, brands, independent creators and students can submit work to the competition through Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at aafdcawards.com. Winning work will be announced live at the awards show on March 2, 2023, and winners will then move on to the regional and national competitions.
According to AAF DC, the creative partnership between AAF DC and January Third materialized “in part because of the award-winning creative work January Third has produced over the past few years, establishing the agency as a notable player on the DC advertising scene.”
This year’s Awards campaign features social media, outdoor and video with a fully analog, vintage look. The nostalgia-induced design, combined with a heavy slant towards typography and, reports AAF DC, “resulted in campaign that’s sure to stand out and hopefully excited the creative community in DC.”
“There’s no creative community more important to us than DC’s. This our home — and the place that taught us to make advertising. So it was an honor to be invited to create the campaign for this year’s American Advertising Awards,” said Maggie Winters Gaudaen, Partner & ECD, January Third.
“We set out to create something unexpected — maybe even a little jarring. Nothing cute, nothing joke-y. Just a fierce all-caps shout,” added Zach Goodwin, Partner & ECD, January Third.
“We’re really excited to be working with January Third on the creative for the American Advertising Awards,” said Gretchen Carswell, AAF DC Awards Committee Co-Chair. “Getting Maggie and Zach and the January Third team involved elevates how we’re able to promote the American Advertising Awards, and it’s perfectly aligned with the show’s purpose of celebrating the great work coming out of DC.”
