Abel Communications Lands 1st Mariner Bank PR Account; News from Enradius, Weitzman Agency, Warschawski and idfive

Abel Communications announces that 1st Mariner Bank, the largest independently-owned bank in Baltimore, selected the firm as its public relations agency of record. Abel will provide strategic communications campaigns with a focus on content and message development and media relations. In June 2014, 1st Mariner was acquired and recapitalized under the leadership of CEO Jack Steil and COO Robert Kunisch and now has 15 branches.

Arnold, Md.-based HEX Performance hired Enradius, a Baltimore-based digital marketing company specializing in geo-targeted advertising and digital marketing. Enradius will run a digital marketing campaign using zip-code geo-fencing around retailers in targeted regions to increase consumer awareness and sales of HEX Performance cleaning products which restore, clean and protect high tech performance gear and apparel.

In Annapolis, Margriet Mitchell, president of Weitzman Agency, was recently presented with the Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award from the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. For the past 30 years, the YWCA TWIN Award Program has honored women who exemplify excellence in executive-level positions.

In Annapolis media news, Rick Hutzell is the new editor of Capital Gazette Communications, succeeding Steve Gunn, editor for the company’s publications since 2013 and now editor of The Virginian-Pilot. A native of Ocean City, Hutzell joined The Capital in 1987.

Mount Washington’s Warschawski has promoted Michele Tomlinson to vice president. She joined Warschawski more than 12 years ago, first completing an assistant associate program and most recently serving as senior director.

At idfive in Baltimore, Katelyn Jacobsen has been promoted to account executive. She has been with the firm for five years.
