Annapolis and Baltimore Media Updates: Barbara Smith-Cox & Richard Fox Have Died

The Annapolis and Baltimore media community is mourning the loss of Barbara Smith-Cox, the news director at WNAV radio. She died of natural causes on Nov. 14 at age 55. She had fought and won a battle against breast cancer and emceed a forum on cancer survival the night before she died. The previous Sunday, she completed in the Across the Bay 10K race across the Bay Bridge.

Richard Fox, the first publisher of the Baltimore Business Journal, died of cancer on Nov. 4 at age 67. He served as publisher from 1983 until 1987. A memorial service is scheduled for Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. At St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ellicott City.
