Lisa Osborne Ross, president of the Washington region, Edelman, pictured above, and Valerie Camillo, chief revenue and marketing officer for the Washington Nationals, are included in the Washington Business Journal‘s 15th annual Women Who Mean Business Program. This WBJ award honors the region’s most influential business women of 2018 at a gala on October 11.

Spectrum Science Communications, a D.C.-based health and science public relations agency, has been named PR News’ 2018 Medium PR Firm of the Year. According to a release, this win comes during a pivotal year for the firm, during which it welcomed six senior hires and completed its sale to president and CEO Jonathan Wilson ahead of schedule. Based in D.C., with offices in New YorkAtlanta and Chicago, “the agency has seen exponential growth over the past four years, reporting a 20% year-over-year revenue increase this past year alone,” stated the release.

Moxy DC, a 14-story D.C. hotel set to open in late October,  announced that Mark Namdar will serve as the hotel’s Captain and James Rattray as Director of Sales and Social Media. According to a trade press report, as Moxy D.C.’s Captain – the brand’s take on general manager – Namdar will lead the property’s day-to-day operations, from programming and marketing to events. He has a 25-year track record of overseeing several luxury and independent properties, including the Graham Georgetown in D.C. and the Westin Tysons Corner in Virginia. Rattray has spent the past few years in sales and marketing positions for Marriott International and Starwood Hotels & Resorts in the Mid-Atlantic. Prior to joining Moxy, Rattray was the Sales and Catering Director at the Washington Court Hotel on Capitol Hill.  More here.
