Powell Tate, the public affairs unit of The Weber Shandwick Collective, added Ashley Etienne as senior counselor. Etienne, states a release from the agency, “is one of the nation’s top communications strategists having served as a trusted advisor to Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.”
Most recently, Etienne served as deputy assistant to President Biden and communications director for Vice President Harris.
Based in D.C., Etienne’s role will focus on providing senior counsel for clients at the intersection of our public affairs, crisis and issues management, corporate, social impact, and diversity, equity and inclusion practices.
Etienne is currently a Spring 2022 Fellow at Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service. Before returning to the White House in 2021, Etienne served as communications director and senior advisor to Speaker Nancy Pelosi – the first woman and person of color to hold those positions. Her groundbreaking career and work has been profiled in Vanity Fair as the “queen of the war room” and Marie Claire’s New Guard List as “Obama’s bad-news fixer.”
She holds a Master of Arts in Political Communications from John Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Sam Houston State University.
