A packed house turned out for the revival of the AAF Baltimore’s TRASHY Awards, recognizing those stunning and beautiful campaigns that for whatever reason never saw the light of day.
The fundraising event, held on May 12 at the Red Star in Fells Point and presented by Early Light Media, is the re-start of a dormant AAF Baltimore program that this year attracted a sell-out crowd.
To protect the innocent, no photos were allowed to be taken of the entries but sources tell the Capitol Communicator that Katie Rossi won the Gold award and Planit took home a Silver and Bronze. Winners were selected by popular vote – attendees stacked the deck by placing cash into jars associated with each entry, with all proceeds going to the AAFB Scholarship fund to support the future of advertising in Baltimore. More than $2,000 was raised.
“Prepare to feast your eyes on brilliant ideas and stellar works created by Baltimore-area agencies and designers that have never before been viewed by the public eye,” read the introduction in the program.
“Beautiful works that may very well have won industry awards had they not been scrapped before reaching their full potential. It’s a little like the bizarro ADDY’s”
