The Baltimore Department of Public Works announced that its spokesman, Jeffrey Raymond, passed away on Oct. 27, 2019. The cause of death has not been released.

“The entire Department of Public Works extends our sincere and heartfelt condolences to Mr. Raymond’s passing,” DPW Director Rudolph Chow said in a statement.

Raymond was familiar to Baltimoreans through his many appearances as DPW spokesman on local radio and TV news stations.

Raymond, 56, was Chief, Division of Communications and Community Affairs at DPW which he joined in 2013. Previously he was a reporter at The Daily Record and Patuxent Publishing after beginning his newspaper career at small newspapers in Missouri and central Illinois. He was president of the Baltimore Public Relations Council 2012-2014 and also served as Treasurer and member of the BPRC Board of Directors.

In Memory of Jeff Raymond

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the sudden passing of our long-time Board Member, past President, Treasurer and friend, Jeffrey C. Raymond. Jeff passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at the age of 56.
Jeff served on the BPRC Board as President from 2012-2014, and as Treasurer from 2014-2019. He could always be counted on for his leadership. His thoughtful and caring nature, as well as his professionalism and dedication to the BPRC, will be truly missed by all of us.  Our prayers and heart-felt condolences are with his family, friends and all who knew him.
Jeff served since 2013 as Director of Communications and Community Affairs for Baltimore’s Department of Public Works. Previously he worked at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where he coordinated media relations initiatives for the law, dental and pharmacy professional schools. Jeff was also a longtime print journalist, locally for Patuxent Publishing in Columbia and the Daily Record in Baltimore and also for small newspapers in Missouri and central Illinois.
