Ray Knight, a fixture on MASN’s pre- and postgame Washington Nationals coverage since 2007, will not return next season.  According to The Washington Post, “MASN pulled Knight, (right in picture with Johnny Holliday) off its broadcasts in mid-September, and did not provide any official explanation for the move. But a person with direct knowledge of that decision said the network pulled Knight after he was involved in a verbal altercation with a member of the MASN production team — an exchange in which Knight berated a MASN employee with an expletive-laden tirade.

“Knight, 65, did not have a spotless history before the incident. In October 2017, he was arrested for assault-and-battery in connection with an incident at the home he was renting in Alexandria — an altercation that left Knight with a bite on his hand so severe it required stitches. The charges were dropped after he reached a deal with the other party, an unnamed male acquaintance.

“He is often a fiery, unfiltered on-air presence, well-known for his candor and occasional inability to mask his feelings about Nationals’ shortcomings.”

In addition, DCRTV reports that Mitch Jacobs is leaving his post as news director for DC’s Sinclair-owned ABC affiliate, Channel 7/WJLA. The DCRTV item added that in a staff memo, Jacob writes: “I made the decision to take a break from daily news for a while. I’ve been in this industry for more years than I care to count and, after celebrating a birthday on Monday, I feel I’m ready for a break. This move will also give me the opportunity to spend some quality time with my mom, who has not been well.”

And, DCRTV states that Longtime DC radio personality Albie Dee joins Entercom’s new classic hits 94.7 The Drive, WIAD….Dee’s background includes on-air and programming positions at WPGC and WIHT in Washington as well as well as WWMX and WZBA in Baltimore.”
