Buzz in Baltimore: News from MGH; Points North Studio; Mindgrub and GKV

MGH added seven employees to its account services, digital marketing, media and social media marketing teams: Amanda Bailey, media assistant; Maeve Gonder, social media marketing associate designer; Sara Hollands, digital analyst, joining from TBC; Sophia Marion, social media marketing account coordinator, previously with WMAR-TV/ABC 2 News; Pete Niles, account supervisor, joining from Jellyfish where he was an account manager; Leighton Smith, senior media buyer; and Bryson Welch, media supervisor, joining from MDB Communications in Washington, D.C.

Jessica Watson, president of JWatson Creative, announced a name change to Points North Design Studio, “a full service design, interactive and branding studio based in Baltimore.”

Mindgrub launched new branding for the Maryland Tech Council in conjunction with the merger of the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council and Tech Council of Maryland. According to a release, “the merger is designed to expand and regionalize Maryland’s technology and life science hubs, while also creating a consistent, unified voice for the industries statewide and a platform to attract more companies and leverage synergies.” The team at Mindgrub, in conjunction with a branding committee composed of board members from both councils, created the new logo design and brand vision. Mindgrub CEO Todd Marks, who has served as Chesapeake Regional Tech Council’s VP, will now serve as the Chairman of Technology for the Maryland Tech Council.

Baltimore-based smoothie company B’more Organic announced an official sponsorship with Johns Hopkins University Lacrosse, bringing organic protein smoothies to the newly launched nutrition station at the Cordish Lacrosse Center, home to the Blue Jay men’s and women’s lacrosse programs. B’More Organic was founded by former Baltimore Jewish Times publisher Andrew Buerger and his wife, Jennifer Buerger, of Roland Park.

GKV added four employees to its roster: Evita Barbour, senior web developer, joining from IBM; Sterling McKinley, paid search specialist, previously SEO/PPC/Digital Marketing Manager at Merritt Athletic Clubs; Raymond Gungon, digital production developer, joining from the U.S. Postal Service; and Sara French, copy editor, previously an intern at Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore.
