HE’S BAAAAAACCCCCKKKK! Charlie Brotman will be the official announcer for the Biden Presidential Inaugural “Parade”. Capitol Communicator learned that Brotman, 93, was given the script Monday and the long-time presidential inaugural parade announcer’s narration was captured via microphone and Zoom. Brotman, for decades a highly visible member of the D.C. PR community once headed Brotman and Associates, which became Brotman|Winter|Fried, and he is known mainly for his work in sports-related activities.
Beyond that, Brotman — once the voice of the Washington Senators baseball team — was the announcer for every inauguration parade from President Dwight Eisenhower to President Barack Obama, but was not invited by President Donald Trump’s inaugural team, when Steve Ray, a Washington-based freelance announcer who had worked with the MLB’s Washington Nationals and for local radio stations, was the inaugural announcer.
“”All of us think of Charlie as as much of the Washington landscape as any building,” Ray said at the time.
WRC-TV did a video tribute to Brotman which you can see here.
