Chuck Todd launching app-based show with media startup Noosphere

Chuck Todd, former moderator of NBC’s weekly news program Meet the Press, is launching an app-based show with media startup Noosphere. Called Sunday Night With Chuck Todd, the politics-themed program starts June 1 and feature one-on-one interviews at restaurants and bars in D.C., reports The Detroit News.

Noosphere, which launched in February, is a social-media-like platform that allows journalists to post videos, audio content, photos and articles, and share revenue generated from paying subscribers. The site is tapping into changes in the media industry as more journalists break away from traditional organizations to launch their own newsletters, podcasts and shows, reports The Detroit News.

According to an online report, a group of journalists launched a news app called Noosphere to aggregate the work of top independent minds in the reporting world. The app debuted on February 25 and charges users less than $20 a month for unlimited access to a library of content from videos, audio podcasts and articles produced by journalists.

The idea of journalists owning their own content, but at the same time collaborating, feels like “where we’re headed as a profession,” Todd said in an interview.
