Edelman Global Advisory (EGA) announced the formation of its Global Health Policy and Public Affairs offering. Led by EGA Health Chair Joseph M. Damond, the newly formed offering, states a release, “will help companies navigate the challenges of a complex health policy environment while anticipating and proactively addressing emerging developments and trends. The pandemic has permanently altered all aspects of health policy globally, forcing policymakers around the world to grapple with critical issues. At the forefront of these issues are access and equity, innovation growth, and adaptation of regulatory and reimbursement systems to meet the needs of evolving health technologies in both the life sciences and IT sectors. Now more than ever, companies need to follow, understand, and effectively engage with these issues to meet demands of the marketplace and consumers. Clyde Group added John Rizzo as Senior Vice President of Public Affairs. With nearly 15 years of public affairs experience, Rizzo most recently served as the senior spokesperson at the U.S. Department of the Treasury where he led public affairs strategy on digital assets, fintech, climate finance, financial stability, domestic finance and economic policy. Prior to his service at the Treasury Department, Rizzo was a top communications adviser to Sen. Chuck Schumer (New York) and Sen. Bob Casey Jr. (Pennsylvania). At Clyde Group, Rizzo will focus on providing strategic counsel and communications guidance to a broad range of financial services clients, including market participants in traditional finance along with emerging and innovative spaces such as digital assets and fintech.
Glen Echo Group and Bowie State University (BSU) announced a partnership centered around fostering professional connections and career development for students in BSU’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Chapter, which is in the university’s Communications Department. As Maryland’s oldest Historically Black College and University (HBCU), states a release, BSU’s communications and public relations programming and faculty “are powerful endorsements of the students who graduate from this historic institution….This exciting partnership was founded around like-minded goals to elevate BSU PRSSA student access to informative, integrative, and high-quality industry experiences, knowledge, and relationships, and through close collaboration with BSU Communications Department Professor and PRSSA Chapter Advisor, Dr. Rochelle R. Daniel,” who is also co-author of “Communications Internship Handbook: What HBCU Students need to Know”. The two keystone initiatives of the partnership’s inaugural year include a scholarship fund for student participation in the international PRSSA ICON 2022 conference, and an on-campus networking event to provide individualized resume and career guidance to students.
