D.C.-area agency updates: Frank Ahrens heading BGR Analytics, CLYDE promotes Lilia Dashevsky and JConnelly adds Ryan Hughes

by | Jul 15, 2023

BGR PR Principal Frank Ahrens, former vice president of global corporate communications for Hyundai Motor in Seoul and Washington Post reporter, pictured above, is heading BGR Analytics, a new practice launched by the D.C.-based PR agency. Using data from 25 categories and analyzing 3.8 trillion pieces of online data over the course of an entire year, BGR Analytics has created the BGR Impact Index, a ranking of all 195 United Nations countries based on how well-known and well-liked they are in D.C. and the U.S. “The BGR Impact Index shows foreign countries how much mindshare they command in Washington, especially compared to peer and rival countries,” Ahrens said. “It tells them where they punch above – and below – their weights. This knowledge can drive their communications plans to amplify their strengths and address their challenges more strategically, instead of relying on hunches, anecdotes or outdated assumptions about their status in Washington.”

CLYDE promotes Lilia Dashevsky to senior VP of public affairs. Dashevsky has been with the firm since March 2020, most recently serving as a VP, reports O’Dwyer’s.  Before joining CLYDE, she was an account manager at event marketing and digital acquisition agency mdg, and senior coordinator, social and digital content at The Washington Center. Earlier in her career, Dashevsky spent seven years working in Arizona Republican politics, supporting several federal, state and local campaigns; the AZ GOP; ballot initiatives; and other communications efforts. She also co-chairs the Anti Defamation League’s Washington, D.C. Associate Board, and is an advisory council network for the GlobalWIN women’s network. In her new post she will oversee the pro-democracy and elections sub-practice area.

Communications and marketing agency JConnelly adds Ryan Hughes as Assistant Vice President – Public Relations.  He  will be working out of the firm’s Chicago office. Earlier in his career, Hughes was Senior Account Executive at the public affairs firm ROKK Solutions in D.C., and, before that, he was with Shirley & Banister Public Affairs, where, states a release, “he served in a pivotal role handling conservative media relations for Governor Scott Walker’s (R-WI) campaign for President, and later managed key aspects of the surrogate booking operation for Governor John Kasich’s (R-OH) campaign for President.” JConnelly, states its website, “has operations throughout the U.S. — including the business hubs of NYC, Chicago, D.C., Palm Beach and Las Vegas.”
