D.C.-Area Agency Updates: Similarweb, DCI Group and Clyde Group

by | Aug 31, 2021

Digital intelligence agency Similarweb is opening an office in Reston, VA.  The company works in the intelligence space in digital research, digital marketing, shopping, sales and investment in its 10 offices globally. The 900-person company, which was founded in 2007, works with brands including Lego, Lending Tree, DHL and Rakuten. The Reston space will be its fourth U.S. location.  According to a release, the Reston office will be home to Similarweb’s Chief Marketing Officer Kevin Spurway (above) and a growing team in the Washington Metropolitan area, with a focus on hiring sales and marketing roles. Similarweb has grown its headcount across all ten global offices this year, with plans to continue its rapid global expansion through the end of the year. The office will offer a balance of open space and conference room options for flexible work scheduling, and to accommodate social distancing for those attending in-person. Spurway had been CMO at Appian Corporation in Tysons, VA.

The Malaysian Palm Oil Council hired DCI Group for a public affairs push to support its efforts to improve the labor and human rights policies and practices in Malaysia, reports O’Dwyer’s. Human Rights Watch reports that the coalition that came to power in Malaysia in March 2020 launched a crackdown on media freedom, free speech, refugees and migrants. In January, the government used the COVID-19 pandemic to declare a state of emergency, the first in 50 years, according to HRW. A new prime minister, Malaysia’s third in three years, took power on Aug. 21. Palm oil is an ingredient in more than half of the packaged goods (food, detergents, cosmetics) used by Americans.

Clyde Group is moving to 1152 15th Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, D.C.
