D.C.-Area Agency Updates: SKDK, Subject Matter and Stratacomm

by | Feb 21, 2021

SKDKnickerbocker (SKDK) announced that Pia Carusone, above, has been named managing director and co-head of the Political Department with Doug Thornell and Oren Shur. A veteran of campaigns and politics, Carusone will be responsible for providing strategic counsel to the firm’s candidate clientele and producing content that shapes the political narrative.

Subject Matter adds agency veteran Maggie Bergin as Senior Vice President for Client Leadership. Bergin will lead a team of 15 account directors and managers, manage client relationships and develop new business. “Maggie’s sweet spot is helping teams deliver creative solutions and new ideas. We’re anticipating another growth year and thrilled to welcome Maggie to the team to help us manage our expanding team,” said founding partner Paul Frick.  Bergin comes to Subject Matter after more than six years with RP3 Agency, where she led integrated communications and digital campaigns for clients from real estate, healthcare and business sectors.

Stratacomm adds April Harding as digital director supporting the agency’s work with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), World Food Program and Amtrak. Prior to joining Stratacomm, she served as chief technology officer and co-founder at Wellspring, and vice president at GMMB. In addition, Gina Grundman joins the agency as an associate media planner with responsibility over researching, planning and targeting audiences for client campaigns. Previously, she supported full-service marketing campaigns for automotive brands.
