D.C.-area agency updates: Spectrum acquires Continuum Clinical, Republican National Committee chief of staff Mike Reed to join Cornerstone and BGR Group announces promotions

Spectrum acquired Continuum Clinical, a global clinical trial recruitment and engagement solutions provider with a 30-year track record of elevating interest, increasing access and enhancing experiences in clinical trials. Spectrum purchased Continuum from Blue Chip Worldwide, an independent, full-service, creative marketing agency growing brands through creative commerce. Details of the transaction were not disclosed. Continuum, headquartered in Northbrook, IL, will merge with Spectrum’s existing clinical trial recruitment (CTR) strategic pillar, bolstering the company’s current offering in several critical ways, including adding overall depth and breadth of capabilities, as well as bringing a large and diverse client roster.

Republican National Committee chief of staff Mike Reed is set to join Cornerstone. Reed had served as chief of staff at the committee since Jan. 2022. In an email to staff, obtained by POLITICO, he said that he wanted to focus on his “growing family [that] needs and deserves my attention.” According to POLITICO, two people familiar with Reed’s move say it has been in the works for around a year. They said he accepted his new job with Cornerstone, a government relations and public affairs firm, last fall but chose to remain at the RNC through the committee’s winter meeting in Las Vegas.

BGR Group promoted Jo Maney to the newly created position of Chief of Marketing and Engagement. Maney will oversee advertising and promotion for BGR Group, manage the brand and the extensive content produced by BGR’s practices, and continue to lead the firm’s public engagement. She will remain a principal in BGR’s Public Relations practice, BGR Group’s communications company, and the president of the BGR Foundation. In addition, Robin Colwell, Dan Greenwood and Fred Turner have been elected by their colleagues to be principals in the firm.
