Glen Echo Group added Heather Janik as a vice president.  Janik, pictured above, joins the Glen Echo Group from Feeding America, the country’s largest domestic hunger charity, where she lead thought leadership and media relations efforts, securing print, broadcast and editorial media coverage. Prior to Feeding America, she drove communications efforts for the nonprofit Council for a Strong America, advancing early childhood education efforts.  In addition, for six years, Janik was the lead spokesperson for homelessness under Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and provided strategic counsel to the City of Cleveland in the wake of the Tamir Rice shooting. A former producer for Fox News Channel, she started her career on the Hill with the House Republican Conference and Congressman David Reichert. During George W. Bush’s presidency, Janik served as the Deputy Press Secretary for the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

“The creative minds of The Blackstar Group have redeveloped and relaunched the company,” states a release. The firm, which has opened a D.C. office, was founded by Aaron Pope.  According to his LinkedIn profile, previously, Pope was a contract publicist for the National Park Foundation and, before that, a marketing and PR specialist at PMG Public Relations.

SIGMA Marketing Insights in Boston announced the appointment of Megan Salocksas as Digital Strategist. Prior to joining SIGMA, Salocksas served as the Digital Marketing Manager for the National Museum of American History in D.C., where, states a release, she led the strategy and day-to-day implementation for digital communications, audience engagement, and marketing tactics across web, email, social media and advertising.
