IonQ, College Park, MD, appointed Margaret Arakawa, above,  its Chief Marketing Officer. According to a release, she brings several decades of leadership experience to IonQ, having grown end-to-end ecosystems at startups and enterprise companies. Arakawa spent twenty years at Microsoft in the cloud, security and server business and in her last role was responsible for the multi-billion dollar U.S. Windows and Surface business. More recently,she served as the Chief Marketing Officer at both Outreach and Fastly, where she led all aspects of marketing. As CMO, Arakawa will play an integral part in IonQ’s growth strategy domestically and internationally.

Axios HQ, Arlington, Va, providing internal communications software powered by AI and Smart Brevity®, announced that Jordan Zaslav has been named Chief Operating Officer after leading Axios HQ as General Manager, and adds Stephane Pinel as Head of Machine Learning, after pioneering AI at Mailchimp. “Communication leaders are facing a generational challenge — navigating today’s politically charged environment — and a very new challenge — managing a hybrid workforce. This launch reinforces Axios HQ as a trusted partner to Communicators as they move through this new reality,” adds Axios HQ.

HCI Equity Partners (“HCI”), D.C., a lower middle-market private equity firm, announced that Brittany McDonald joined the firm in the dual role of Chief of Staff and Vice President of Communications and will lead the strategy and implementation of internal and external, multi-channel communications efforts. McDonald joins HCI with nearly 12 years of private equity and investor relations experience, having most recently served as Assistant Vice President at EIG Global Energy Partners, where she developed and executed fundraising strategies, strengthened relationships with investors and supported senior leadership on business development efforts. Previously, she served as Vice President at Jones Lang LaSalle, managing relationships with institutional investors and corporate clients; Senior Associate of Investor Relations and Business Development at The Rock Creek Group, supporting fundraising and business development for customized hedge fund-of-fund portfolios and multi-asset class solutions; and spent six years at the Carlyle Group as a Senior Analyst and as an Associate in Fundraising and Investor Relations.
