RedPeg Marketing announced the appointment of Fredda Hurwitz as the company’s new CMO. Prior to joining RedPeg, Hurwitz served as Global Chief Strategy Officer for Havas Sports & Entertainment (London), where she focused on driving the strategic growth of their offices around the world and evolving the brand into a global player. Headquartered in Alexandria, VA, with offices in Los Angeles, the agency activates at over 1,500 events each year for clients like GEICO, Enterprise, TD Bank, Jagermeister, Loot Crate and Francis Ford Coppola Winery.

Crystal Brown has been named Howard University’s vice president of communications and will have oversight of internal and external communications, media relations, marketing and branding. Previously, Brown served as the chief communications officer for the University of Maryland.  In addition, Alonda Thomas, former senior public relations manager at TV One, has been newly appointed Director of Public Relations at Howard University. Thomas’ new role will include development and management of communications and media relations strategies designed to enhance the university’s reputation and visibility internationally.

After almost 10 years, Bisnow Media decided to end The Scene newsletter, reported Heather Mahoney, reporter and editor of The Scene Bisnow  “It is bittersweet as I have made so many dear friends both within the company and at all of the many events we have hosted/attended. However, I am still staying in DC (along with the rest of the team), so I look forward to still seeing everyone around town!,” she wrote in an email.
