D.C.-Area Updates: Stratacomm, The Hannon Group and Vanguard Communications

by | Nov 15, 2016

Seeing Machines, a global technology firm in intelligent driver safety systems to prevent distracted- and fatigued-related crashes across transportation modes, engaged Stratacomm for strategic communications and media relations support.  To help the company promote its lifesaving technology in North America, Stratacomm’s first assignment was to help raise awareness about Seeing Machines’ trucking-focused Guardian brand at a trucking conference and exhibition. Stratacomm is working in partnership with Alphamark, a marketing and communications firm headquartered in Canberra, Australia, that manages global strategic marketing functions for Seeing Machines and its brands.

To kick off its 15th year in business, Prince George’s County-based and minority-owned public relations firm, The Hannon Group (THG), announced a $15,000 endowment over five years to the Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter School, and the creation of a Founder’s Circle, to honor and recognize the 11 key professionals who helped THG get its start in business and supported the company through its growth.  “The Thurgood Marshall Academy is making incredible impacts in underserved communities in the Washington metro area by providing superior education to underserved youth. Moreover, the Academy is broadening the world of so many youth by showing them the way to higher education with a 100 percent acceptance rate of its students to colleges and universities. That’s why I am very pleased to make a contribution to the school,” said The Hannon Group Founder and President, Dr. Sandra Wills Hannon. Dr. Hannon also was the 2007 PRSA-NCC president.

Vanguard Communications added Noralisa Leo as vice president of the Diversity + Inclusion Practice, and Matt Chun as vice president of the Digital Practice. Leo will serve as architect and strategic counsel to Vanguard’s growing Diversity + Inclusion portfolio, which is focused on addressing inequities in civil rights, economic justice, education, health and the environment. Chun is charged with evolving Vanguard’s integrated digital services inclusive of social media, content marketing, digital advertising and measurement practices. Leo most recently worked at SKDKnickerbocker and, prior to Vanguard, Chun worked at Social@Ogilvy.
