The Virginia Tech Innovation Campus in Alexandria added Franki Fitterer as the director of communications and marketing for the university.  Fitterer, above, will direct marketing and communications strategy for the Innovation Campus and will focus on enrollment marketing and the campus’ brand strategy.  Fitterer was the American University Washington College of Law’s director of public relations and marketing for 13 years. Along with overseeing brand implementation, marketing campaigns, media relations and other communications duties for admissions and development, she managed the communications and marketing for American University’s law school campus in the Tenleytown neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

D.C. United announced two executive level hires for the club’s front office. Jeff Ajluni joins the club as the Senior Vice President of Partnerships and Brand Engagement, and Kevin Griffin has been appointed Senior Vice President of Marketing and Brand Strategy. Ajluni has spent much of his career as an executive in the professional sports, media operations and live entertainment industries. He also brings knowledge of the D.C. market from his two most recent positions, first as Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development for the US Travel Association and, second, as the Chief Commercial Officer for the Trust for the National Mall. Griffin joins D.C. United from The Adcom Group in Northeast Ohio, where he served as their President of Brand & Market Insights. Griffin also holds Major League Soccer experience from his time with Seattle Sounders FC. With the Sounders, he was responsible for the club’s fan development efforts and brand management through events and game-day entertainment and was also recognized as Major League Soccer’s Community Relations Executive of the Year in 2011. In addition, Griffin serves as the Co-National Vice President for Black Sports Professionals, is a board member of the Ohio State University “O” Alumni organization, and is the board chair for the Cleveland Peacemakers Alliance (Boys & Girls Club).

Sunrise Senior Living, a provider of senior living services, added Maria Davlantes as Chief Marketing Officer. According to a release, Davlantes’ more than 30-year career spans all areas of marketing. Prior to joining Sunrise, she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Heartland Dental, the largest dental support organization in the U.S., and had served in CMO, marketing leadership, and consulting roles for many segment leaders to include TE Connectivity, a global technology company, Interface, Inc., the world’s largest designer, manufacturer, and marketer of modular carpet with a widely respected purpose-driven commitment to sustainability, and its consumer subsidiary FLOR, as well as BP, a global energy company, where she led a large, diverse, multi-national team to manage the BP, Arco, am/pm and ARAL brands for the global retail business. Earlier in her career, she served worked for McKinsey & Company based in London.
