D.C. artist Robin Davisson working to spread awareness of Arthritis Awareness Month

A May 9 art drop for the Arthritis Foundation’s Green Heart Fridays resulted in members of the D.C. community coming together “to discover and engage with a unique piece of Green Heart-inspired artwork at the Exorcist Stairs in Georgetown,” states a release. The art, an abstract created by D.C.-based artist Robin Davisson, above, “sparked excitement and amplified awareness for Arthritis Awareness Month, supporting the millions of people living with arthritis,” adds the release,

On Friday, May 16, and each Friday in May, Davisson will drop a new piece of Green Heart art in a public space in D.C. Those viewing the art are encouraged to share photos on social media with the hashtags #GreenHeartFridays and #ArthritisFoundation.

The D.C. Green Heart Fridays campaign is part of a nationwide “free art activation” from the Arthritis Foundation where every Friday in May, they are “flooding social media and city streets with our Green Hearts, a powerful symbol of support, connection, and resilience in the face of arthritis.”

As the leading cause of disability in the U.S., arthritis affects nearly 60 million adults and hundreds of thousands of children and teens. Through Green Heart Fridays, the Arthritis Foundation works to raise awareness, fund research for better treatments and advocate for policies that improve access to care.
