District-based digital marketing company REQ is “leveling up its staff, customer base and revenue with the purchase of San Diego-based Internet Marketing Inc. (IMI),” reports Washington Business Journal.

WBJ stated that terms of the deal “were not disclosed. It adds about 50 employees to REQ, two new offices in San Diego and Las Vegas, and creates a company with about 120 employees and $50 million in annual revenue, according to the combined company, which will remain named REQ and headquartered in D.C.

“The company also has offices in Tysons, New York City, Boston, San Francisco.

“REQ counts among its clients Bayer, Red Hat, Disney and Skanska, and the combination brings in IMI’s expertise in performance marketing for large digital advertising purchases in the tens of millions of dollars — with data science and analytics teams. The acquisition was a “natural union” between the two companies,” said REQ CEO and founder Tripp Donnelly.

WBJ added that the new acquisition “comes after REQ purchased SpeakerBox in January, which gave the combined company the addition of a deeper well of public relations talent. Donnelly said the company does not intend to acquire any more companies, at least in 2019, adding that all of its purchases have been “purposeful” and not just for growth’s sake.”
