by | Mar 28, 2017

RP3 Agency, a leading advertising agency in the Washington metropolitan area, announced that Dan Sweet has joined the Bethesda, Md.-based firm to lead its new public relations practice as its first Director of Public Relations. In addition to the agency’s award-winning advertising and digital services, this newly created division will allow RP3 to provide its clients with a complete host of public relations services including earned media, crisis communications and issue advocacy capabilities.

“As RP3 continues its amazing growth, we see more and more the critical role earned media and other aspects of public relations play in launching and sustaining successful advertising and marketing campaigns,” said Beth Johnson, Co-Founder and CEO of RP3 Agency. “Bringing in a seasoned public relations professional with a proven track-record for success like Dan allows us to bring a critical new media relations dimension to the exceptional work our clients have come to expect from RP3.”

Sweet has spent over 15 years providing strategic communications counsel and executing successful media relations campaigns for a variety of major corporate brands and advocacy clients where he specializes in developing creative and effective earned media, crisis and healthcare communication programs.

“Dan brings a great mix of in-depth knowledge of the media, strategic communication insights and creative thinking that will be key in developing our public relations practice,” said Jim Lansbury, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at RP3. “Now more than ever, PR and social need to be woven into the creative concept to resonate with consumers and Dan will help us do just that.”

Before joining RP3, Sweet was a Senior Vice President at FleishmanHillard specializing in healthcare, issue advocacy and crisis communications.

Additionally, Sweet previously worked at JPA Health Communications and Powell Tate in Washington, DC.

He got his professional start developing research and messaging strategy for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as well as statewide political campaigns across the country. Sweet earned a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland at College Park.

“I am thrilled to be joining such a dynamic and creative agency with a well-deserved reputation for excellence,” said Sweet. “I look forward to the challenge of helping this amazing agency continue to grow by building a successful public relations practice on par with RP3’s excellent advertising, social and digital media teams.”
