D.C.-Area Updates: WHITE64, Spectrum Science and Anne Arundel County, MD

Tysons-based WHITE64 announced two hires: Corey Lane, an ad agency executive with more than a decade of experience, was named WHITE64’s new Director of Business Development; and Kelly Clasen joined the agency as an Account Director with 14 years of experience on both the client and agency side of the industry.  Lane comes the WHITE64 from the Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., where he worked as Business Development Supervisor.  Prior to joining Martin, Lane worked at JWT, FCB and Ogilvy.  Clasen comes to WHITE64 from the TLC Network, where she most recently served as Director of Marketing.

Spectrum Science Communications named Larry Thompson, Senior Vice President, Media. In this role, stated a release, Thompson will leverage his experiences as both a journeyman reporter in print and broadcast, and a health and policy communicator to enhance the Spectrum science and storytelling approach across the company’s practice areas. Thompson co-founded The Washington Post’s Health section and served as the section’s science editor. Following his time at The Washington Post, he worked as a broadcast correspondent for Medical News Network and then served as a science policy analyst at the US Food and Drug Administration, and Communications Chief of the Genome Institute at the US National Institutes of Health. Most recently, he served as Senior Director of Communications at Johnson & Johnson’s Office of the Chief Medical Officer.

Anne Arundel County, Md, is seeking an outside consultant/firm to work with the Department of Public Works (DPW) Customer Relations Unit to design a public relations campaign with short and long-term outreach strategies, and materials that will enable DPW to better communicate with its customers – all property owners, residents, and their families in Anne Arundel County.  More here.
