Finsbury Glover Hering has acquired The Harbour Group (THG), a D.C.-based public affairs firm. Founded in 2001, THG specializes on advising international companies, countries, and institutions – on doing business in the United States.

(Finsbury Glover Hering was formed through the merger of communications consultancies Finsbury, The Glover Park Group and Hering Schuppener.)

According to a release, for more than 20 years THG has “created and executed successful campaigns that have impacted policy and business outcomes. During this time THG has worked closely with leading law firms and investment banks to facilitate complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions. It has advised governments on public affairs, strategic communications and foreign policy.”

“The Harbour Group has built the nation’s preeminent advisory practice supporting foreign governments and businesses as they seek to navigate the political, business and policy landscape in the US. Their deep expertise will complement and enhance our global network. We couldn’t be more excited to be joining forces,” said Joel Johnson, head of Finsbury Glover Hering’s Washington, D.C., office.

The new combination reunites key principals. Before leaving to join The Glover Park Group in 2006, Joel Johnson, Finsbury Glover Hering Managing Partner and Head of the D.C. office, founded The Harbour Group with THG Managing Director Richard Marcus in 2001.
