Diane Pelkey, the former long-time SVP of communications at Under Armour, has been appointed head of communications and PR at online pet products retailer Chewy, Inc.
Pelkey began her career with the adidas Group as director of communications, followed by Reebok from 2002 to 2007, where she was director of global brand PR. She joined Under Armour in 2007 as VP of global communications and entertainment and was named SVP in 2015.
She left Under Armour in early March and joined the Dania Beach, Fla.-based Chewy soon after her departure from Baltimore.
In one of her first projects with Chewy, Pelkey announced the company is working alongside GreaterGood.org and other non-profit partners to donate more than $1.7 million in pet food, healthcare supplies, and other products to animal welfare organizations most severely affected by the regional economic impact of coronavirus.
“We remain dedicated to our partners operating on the frontlines of the current situation and will continue to look for ways to donate more. By partnering with GreaterGood.org , we are able to direct resources to pets in highly impacted regions who need it most,” said Sumit Singh, CEO at Chewy.
According to Chewy, its mission is “to be the most trusted and convenient online destination for pet parents everywhere.”
