In the News: Amanda Nguyen, Jeff Walter, Dan Meyers and Esther C. Lee
D.C.-based CHIEF promoted Amanda Nguyen, right in photo, to Principal and Director of Marketing Strategy, and Jeff Walter, left in photo, to Principal and Creative Director. With this promotion, they join Margaret Johnson, Scott Johnson, Chris Lester, Dave Rinaldo, Clay Marshall and Anuj Vedak as Principals at CHIEF. In addition, the firm recently established a west coast office in Portland, Oregon.
Dan Meyers, who spent nearly a decade at DCI Group, joined APCO Worldwide as senior director and head of advocacy in the firm’s PA practice, reports O’Dwyer’s, which added that as VP ad DCI, Meyers managed federal/state/local political campaigns, overseeing messaging, field operations, finance/compliance, digital and paid advertising.
Virginia Governor-elect Ralph Northam picked Esther C. Lee to be secretary of commerce and trade. Lee served as senior policy adviser to the U.S. secretary of commerce under President Barack Obama, but she also brings an extensive business background in technology, media and finance, as well as degrees from Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Lee began her career as a business and technology journalist at CNN, but rose to senior roles at Burson-Marsteller, a global public relations firm, and CIT Group, a Fortune 500 financial services firm, as well as AOL/Time Warner.
