The key to have more women in the ad industry is… having more women in the ad industry, states inVisibleCreatives, which is an initiative to help fix the gender ratio in the advertising industry worldwide by creating the largest female creative database.

The inVisibleCreatives website added that less than 11% of creative directors at ad agencies are women. inVisibleCreatives is an initiative to fix the gender ratio in the advertising industry, once and for all by creating the largest female creative database featuring the work from all women around the world.

“Diversity is not a moral issue. It’s a creative one. Advertising without diversity becomes a dull place, doomed to repeat itself over and over again. We need more women not because it looks bad in the picture, but because of diversity fuels innovation and creativity.

Why did we end up here in the first place?

  • Women are promoted on facts, not on potential
  • Boys club syndrome: exclusion of women from social events and networking
  • Women struggle with self-promotion hence, they have less visibility
  • Lack of female role models
  • An unconscious bias which leads to champion more male work

“We’ll partner up with talent agencies and advertising agencies to make sure they consider one of the often overlooked portfolios for potential hires. More women being considered, getting more interviews and more chances to get a job, and to end the underrepresentation of women in creative departments. Having more female visibility will also impact the way women get represented in advertising, for the benefit of the society as a whole.”
