Irene Noguchi, based in D.C., is joining NPR as Executive Producer of the Enterprise Storytelling Unit, NPR’s home for ambitious long-form narrative storytelling and audio documentaries.
The ESU’s award-winning teams produce Embedded, Invisibilia, Rough Translation and Up First Sunday in collaboration with Morning Edition, as well as special limited-run podcasts working with the Investigations unit, member stations, the Content Development Team, and others. In the coming months and years, states NPR, “Embedded, in particular, will become a showcase for enterprise journalism drawn from across the NPR Network and the public media universe.
‘Irene is a talented and experienced leader with an impressive background covering news, launching and running new podcasts, and managing teams with empathy and excellence.
‘Most recently, Irene was Executive Producer of the Opinion Audio department at the New York Times, which included The Ezra Klein Show and First Person, among others. Before that, she was Head of Audio at Politico, and also co-launched and oversaw Vox’s daily news podcast, Today, Explained.
‘Irene began her career in audio in public media, working at KQED, KNPR and KUOW. In a previous life, she was a lawyer.’
