Mahmoud “Jeff” Ghannam, who was president of the National Capital Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA-NCC) in 2010 and a marketing and communications executive for numerous associations and nonprofits, died on March 9.
According to PRSA-NCC, “Jeff put passion in everything he did and loved the chapter. In addition to being chapter president, he oversaw PRSA’s International Conference twice when it was in the D.C. area (first in 2010 when he was president and again as co-chair in 2014). Jeff was responsible for revitalizing the chapter’s association and nonprofit committee and was actively involved with the Independent Public Relations Alliance. Jeff continued to give back to the chapter by leading his “PR Manager to Leader” workshop for 8 consecutive years.
“Many PR leaders attribute Jeff for getting them involved with the chapter. Jeff was a mentor and friend and we will miss his bright smile and genuine and giving nature.”
According to his obituary, he enjoyed a career as a journalist, marketing/communications executive and tour guide. He was an active volunteer with Washington & Lee High School class of 77 reunions, Falls Church Kiwanis Little League and enjoyed organizing Washington Nationals ticket groups.
His obit says he will be remembered “for his love of family, enthusiasm for life, sense of humor and passion for Washington Nationals baseball and music.”
