Joseph Olmo reveals during broadcast that he is leaving NBC Washington

Long-time NBC anchor Joseph Olmo revealed mid-broadcast that he is leaving NBC Washington, reports The Daily Beast.
“Well, before we go tonight, I’ve got just one more story for you,” he told viewers. “After almost 10 years in broadcasting, tomorrow night I will hit the streets of the DMV one final time as a local news reporter.”
Olmo, a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and a Catholic University of America alum, has covered the capital region for about seven years, with NBC4 and Telemundo 44.
“You can cover the world, but nothing compares to being a local news reporter. Because think about it. Who else would tell you about all the things happening where we live?”
“To watch all these moments in person and then share what I see with you has been so cool,” the Annapolis native said.
On his Instagram, Olmo said he would be “staying right here at home.” He added, “And if you know anything about me, then the next chapter won’t be much of a surprise 😉”
