D.C.-based Glen Echo Group announced that Katie Barr, current COO and EVP, has been elevated to President. In addition to this leadership role, Barr will also work closely with Orchestra partners, representing the firm’s tech and innovation capabilities across the platform.
“There is no Glen Echo Group without Katie Barr,” said Maura Colleton Corbett, the firm’s founder and CEO. “From our early wins as a two-woman team protecting the open internet, to stopping anti-competitive mergers and lots of bills with bad acronyms like SOPA-PIPA, Katie has been there. As President, her new title properly represents the wisdom, integrity and leadership she has long provided to our firm, our clients and to me as my partner in crime and in friendship.”
Barr previously served as the Glen Echo Group’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and was the firm’s first employee in 2010. Since then, Barr, states a release, has provided counsel in issue advocacy and coalition building to clients, while overseeing all client service, account management and employee development efforts.
“Having worked in the policy arena for nearly two decades, I’ve seen how technology and regulation impact all aspects of our lives,” said Barr. “We’re better positioned than ever to take on the newest challenges facing the technology landscape, and I’m excited to work with our talented team of communicators and policy experts to shape the future of the internet.”
Prior to joining Glen Echo, Barr was a Director at Qorvis Communications where she represented clients specializing in public relations, grassroots and issue advocacy and social media communications. She also worked at Trippi & Associates.
